NEW VOLVO OCEAN RACE SPECIAL EDITION MODELS

As anticipation of the start of the next round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race mounts, Volvo have again launched special Volvo Ocean Race editions of the V70, XC70 and XC90.

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, these special editions are distinguished by unique Ocean Blue pearlescent paint, Volvo Ocean Race emblem and chrome exterior details.

"These Ocean Race models capture the spirit of an active lifestyle, adventure and passion with a unique marine design connection. Interior details echo the materials used in masts and rigs. The stitching on the upholstery traces its roots to sail making. The aluminium detailing on the mats resembles clews and the design of the unique wheels has been inspired by the movement of the ocean's waves," says Lennart Stegland, President of the Special Vehicles division at Volvo Cars.

Volvo Ocean Race models are available with either five-cylinder turbocharged petrol or, diesel engines and details of prices and full specifications will be available before the delivery of the first showroom models in June 2008.

The Volvo Ocean Race is the world's most exciting sailing challenge and lasts a grueling nine months to complete. Covering a distance of 39,000 nautical miles, the race will start on 4 October 2008 in Alicante and finish in St Petersburg, on 27 June 2009.
